Shards Of A Looking-Glass

On my floor, lay the shards of a looking-glass
Its shattered pieces still reflect confusion laden eyes
In those shards, I steal a peak, an image I wish to see

Starring back from broken glass I see a crippled mind
Don’t look too close, what you might see, is broken, dumb and blind

The serrated images stir this world of wonder and hope and pride
Its grasp mesmerizes… should that be a surprise?

These jagged diamonds dazzle me
I’m captured in a daze

I squint and smile at my new collage
But I dare not touch those broken shards, or let them leave my sight

Glass is always a good metaphor for the human spirit. Nice poem

Through a looking-glass
all images are distorted,
and there is another world
full of mistery and illusion..
who can ever tell
what can be found there,
behind a looking-glass?..

No one dares to see,
the truth or lies that
are still there,
in those broken pieces
of mind..

@ Brea:

Thanks for stopping by. It’s pretty common for people to think of how fragile the spirit can be, and then compare it to glass. Both are easily shattered. At least, I think so... along with faith. Appreciate the comment.

@ No_the_game:

Thanks for reading my writing bloggie.

@ Yaz:

Thanks for the compliment Yaz. It makes it a bit easier to share when I know people are actually reading what I write.

@ amber7dragonfly:

I’d like to refer you to the movie “Love Jones.”

To paraphrase a well-know part of the movie where the main characters are discussing "romance," and to contrast it to your poem, I’m not sure it always matters what’s on the other side of the looking-glass. It’s the POSSIBILITY of what’s behind there that keeps us interested… until it’s exhausted. Sometimes thats a good thing… other times not.

Nice poems, you have a beautiful way with words.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Are both of yours by the same person?

It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve been in the mood to write. A dear friend of mine helped me to start writing again. I appreciate EVERY kind comment I receive. I really thank you a lot.

This blog, “Consciously Living in a Dream World,” is just a collection of things on my mind. The other blog, “Tired of Dating Games,” which is about relationships, is co-written with my blogmate: “No_the_game.” Our similar names are easy to confuse. My name is: “nosthegametoo.”

I liked this a lot. There is so much to garnered from looking within... thanks for this one. Oh, and thanks for the Love Jones reference! Love it.
